Frost Museum of Science wheelchair accessibility

An elevator at the Museum Drive guest drop-off, a ramp inside the garage to the main entrance, wheelchair-accessible restrooms across Levels 1 to 5, accessible planetarium seating, and an elevator that connects all four levels of the Aquarium.

Frost Science is one of the most accessible museums in downtown Miami. An elevator at the Museum Drive drop-off and a ramp inside the garage both reach the main entrance step-free. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are on every floor from Level 1 to Level 5. The planetarium has wheelchair-accessible seating and the Aquarium has its own elevator across all four levels.

Getting there

Frost Science is at 1101 Biscayne Boulevard, in Museum Park, sharing the plaza with PAMM. From a downtown hotel, the closest accessible Metromover stop is Museum Park. Drop-off by car or rideshare is on Museum Drive (the north side of the building), where you can use the elevator into the lobby.

If you are driving in, the museum's paid self-parking garage has first-come, first-served accessible spaces for vehicles with a DMV handicapped sticker or plate. Inside the garage, a ramp leads to the main entrance, so you avoid the front steps entirely.

Inside the museum

The lobby is on Level 1. The main elevator stack reaches every public level and the rooftop terrace. The 250-seat Frost Planetarium dome is on the upper levels; wheelchair-accessible seating is provided, and a limited number of seats have removable armrests for guests who transfer.

The Aquarium is the museum's signature exhibit, built around a conical tank that you can view from the top edge looking down or from the mezzanine looking up. A dedicated elevator connects all four levels of the Aquarium, and a ramp links the mezzanine level to the next floor, so you do not have to backtrack to the main elevators after each tank.

Borrow a manual wheelchair free of charge at the membership desk; you trade a driver's license or photo ID for the chair, returned when you leave. Loan stock is limited, so arriving close to the 10:00 opening is the safer plan on weekends.

Tips for visiting

Open every day. Monday to Thursday hours are 10:00 to 17:00; Friday to Sunday hours are 10:00 to 18:00. The planetarium runs on a fixed showtime schedule; pick up the day's schedule at the membership desk and aim for an off-peak slot if you want choice of accessible seats.

Pair the visit with PAMM next door (PCA admitted free, wheelchairs at the visitor services desk). Both museums sit on the bayfront terrace promenade, so the walk between them is short, paved and step-free. Bring a hat for the open plaza in the middle of the day.
