Getting there
Coral Castle is at 28655 South Dixie Highway in Homestead, about 50 km south of downtown Miami. The drive is along US-1 (the Dixie Highway) and runs around 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. A car or rideshare is the simplest accessible approach; Miami-Dade Metrobus does run south to the area but with longer headways.
The closest accessible Metrobus stop is on US-1 by the museum's frontage; Miami-Dade Metrobuses are wheelchair-accessible with priority boarding. An accessible-vehicle rideshare (Uber WAV, Lyft Access) is the simpler option for a single-day visit out of central Miami.
Inside the site
Coral Castle is a sculpture garden of hand-carved coral rock walls and stone furniture built by Edward Leedskalnin between 1923 and 1951. The main visitor route is a single outdoor loop through the central courtyard and the gallery of large sculpted pieces: the nine-ton gate, the Polaris telescope, the stone rocking chairs and the obelisk.
The site is wheelchair accessible. The main loop and central courtyard sit at grade and accommodate wheelchairs and ECVs on a paved or compacted surface. Some narrower passages between rock features may not fit every chair width; ask at the ticket booth or call ahead if you have a wider chair.
Tips for visiting
Coral Castle is an open-air visit and the Florida sun is direct over the central courtyard. Arrive at the 09:00 opening or in the late afternoon for cooler temperatures; the last tour starts at 19:00 and gates close at 19:30. The cooler season (November to April) is the easier time for a longer outdoor visit.
If you are heading further south for the day, Coral Castle pairs naturally with a drive into the Everglades National Park (about 30 km further south at the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center, which is accessible). If you would rather stay in Homestead, the Homestead Bayfront Park and the nearby Robert Is Here farmstand are easy adjacent stops.
