Disability discounts in Venice
What disabled visitors and their companion get for free, what is reduced, and which document opens which door.
Disabled visitors and one companion enter free at the Basilica di San Marco, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and Italian state museums on presentation of an official disability ID. Most vaporetti are wheelchair accessible. The table below covers the venues we have verified from primary Italian sources.
Palazzo Ducale is a Fondazione Musei Civici venue with its own admission rules: the companion of a certified disabled visitor is free, and the disabled visitor's fare is confirmed at the ticket office.

How to claim
Present an official disability ID at the venue entrance or ticket office. The European Disability Card is accepted at every venue listed above. For visitors from outside the EU, your home country's official disability card with a recent doctor's letter on letterhead is accepted in practice. The companion does not need their own card.
Documents that are accepted
Italian disability documentation (Legge 104 status) is for residents and is not what a visitor brings. Visitors substitute one of the following: the European Disability Card, a national disability card from your home country, or a state-issued blue badge for parking paired with a doctor's letter that confirms the mobility need.
State museums and major monuments do not pre-register visitors. Walk up to the accessible entrance or the dedicated ticket window, show the card, and the discount is applied on the spot. The companion is admitted on the same transaction without separate proof.
Vaporetto fares for disabled passengers
ACTV operates the vaporetto network. Disabled passengers are eligible for reduced single and multi-day fares; the cheapest practical option for a multi-day visit is the Venezia Unica tourist pass with the disability concession applied at a HelloVenezia ticket office. Buy at Piazzale Roma, Ferrovia (Santa Lucia), or any major pontoon. Bring the same documentation you bring to the museums.
