Cappella Sansevero wheelchair accessibility
What the chapel confirms in writing about its visiting route, plus the part of the museum that is not accessible.

Getting there
The chapel sits one block northeast of the church of San Domenico Maggiore in the historic centre. The closest metro stop is Linea 1 Dante or Linea 1 Università, both within a level walk along Via Benedetto Croce or Spaccanapoli. The street surface in the historic centre is stone-flagged and uneven in patches but mostly negotiable at a slow chair pace.
The chapel door opens directly onto Via Francesco De Sanctis. The street is narrow and pedestrianised in practice during museum hours, so an accessible-taxi drop-off works at the corner with Via Santa Chiara, a short flat roll from the entrance.
Inside the chapel
The accessibility statement from the museum is short and exact: the entire nave of the chapel and the sacristy are open to wheelchair users. Both spaces sit on the single ground-floor level and are reached through the main entrance without steps or lifts. The Cristo Velato by Sanmartino, the chapel's centrepiece, sits in the nave and is fully visible from a seated position.
The other ten allegorical sculptures, including Antonio Corradini's Pudicizia and Francesco Queirolo's Disinganno, are arranged around the same nave. The ceiling fresco, the Glory of Paradise by Francesco Maria Russo, is best viewed from the central position. The sacristy adjoins the nave through a step-free doorway.
The underground cavea
The cavea sotterranea, the underground chamber that houses the anatomical machines, is not accessible. The museum is plain about why: the only access is a narrow 19th-century spiral staircase. There is no lift and no alternative route. Visitors who cannot use the spiral staircase will not be able to see this part of the museum.
The anatomical machines are a famous draw, so this is the trade-off to be honest about before you visit. Many wheelchair users still find the chapel itself the worthwhile half of the experience; the silent power of the Cristo Velato does not require the cavea.
Tickets and booking
The chapel runs a mandatory advance booking system through ticket.museosansevero.it. Entry slots are timed and the queue management is strict. Standard entry covers the nave and the sacristy; there are no separate tickets for the inaccessible cavea.
The museum is open Monday and Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00, closed Tuesdays, with last entry at 18:30. Plan to spend forty to sixty minutes inside; the chapel is intimate and rewards slow looking rather than rapid scanning.
