Getting there
The market is at Plaça Ciutat de Bruges in the old town, opposite the Lonja de la Seda and a short roll from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The streets are paved with stone setts, mostly level, with pedestrian-priority around the square.
Metrovalencia lines 3, 5, 7, and 9 stop at Xàtiva (Estació del Nord) and Àngel Guimerà, both a short roll north or east into the old town.
About the building
The Mercado Central is a Valencian modernist hall built between 1914 and 1928. It covers about 6800 square metres and houses over 200 food stalls inside the main hall and the basement.
The hall is topped by a large central cupola with a weather vane on top. Inside, daylight floods through tiled vaults and stained-glass panels; the route between stalls runs on a level concrete floor.
Step-free access
We could not confirm the location of step-free entrances, the presence of accessible toilets, or whether a lift serves the basement level from the official venue site. The market is a working food market, not a museum, so accessibility is not the focus of its public site. Check at the main door on the day; the stallholders inside are also a helpful source for which side of the hall is easiest to enter from.
Admission and opening hours
Entry to the market is free for all visitors; there is no admission ticket. The market opens Monday to Saturday from 07:30 to 15:00, and is closed on Sundays.
The busiest hours are mid-morning on Saturdays. If you prefer a quieter visit at a wheelchair pace, aim for the first hour after opening on a weekday.
