Disability discounts in Budapest

Bring documentation that names a disability or mobility limitation. Hungarian residents use the national disability ID; visitors usually present a passport and a disability ID issued in their own country. The European Disability Card is recognised by many venues across the EU; not every Budapest venue has published a policy specific to it, so carry your standard national documentation as a backup.

The BKK door-to-door shuttle is the most useful additional service in Budapest for wheelchair travel. Register in advance, book each trip ahead, and it covers the gaps where M4 and the rebuilt M3 do not reach. It is especially useful on the Buda side, where the funicular and the cobbled streets near Matthias Church can make the regular network thin. Most major Budapest museums and ticketed sights publish a reduced-fare category that includes people with disabilities; the specific cell amounts are not always in English on the venue site.
