Wheelchair Review: B&B Hotel Hamburg Nord

Wheelchair Review: B&B Hotel Hamburg Nord

2 min read

I spent 2 nights during the easter break at B&B HOTEL Hamburg-Nord. I was traveling with my sister so we were looking for a twin bed, wheelchair accessible room with roll-in shower, and enough space to the side of the bed for my wheelchair and equipment.

I started the search on wheelietravel.com. There are 65 hotels that are wheelchair accessible in Hamburg. I started with the ones that allow booking the wheelchair room directly online, as I was too lazy to email hotels and wait for answers. B&B was one of them.

The good

The hotel is 3 minutes away from the metro station Habichtstraße. The metro runs straight from Hamburg main station and both stations have elevators.

The room is quite spacious and there was plenty of space next to the beds. I chose the left side bed but both were good to me.

The bathroom is quite spacious and there are both a fixed shower chair and a height adjustable, movable shower chair. I could choose between either.

Needs Improvement

The trash cans are too small. We asked the room service to empty it after the first night and they did, but it was too small to fit all the trash coming from the mucus suction machine, the feeding system, and the other breathing machines. Also it was only one trash can in the bathroom and we had to take it out to the room, leaving the bathroom without one.

The bathroom mirror was too high and wasn't possible to lower by myself. There was another mirror in the room that was floor to ceiling but inside the bathroom the mirror wasn't really accessible.

Other points, conclusion

I didn't try the breakfast but my sister tried it. It was what you typically find in most German hotels. Nothing remarkable. Nothing bad.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel if you are traveling to Hamburg.
