Universal's Islands of Adventure wheelchair accessibility

Hogsmeade, Jurassic Park and Skull Island are step-free. Universal's Attraction Assistance Pass enrols at Guest Services. The Hogwarts Express to Universal Studios Florida is wheelchair-accessible at both ends.

Islands of Adventure is the younger of the two Universal Orlando theme parks and the roller-coaster park of the pair. The central Port of Entry lagoon is circled by paved, step-free paths connecting Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Skull Island, Jurassic Park, Hogsmeade, the Lost Continent and Seuss Landing. Most rides require a transfer to the ride vehicle.

Step-free entrance
The entrance from CityWalk passes under the Pharos Lighthouse and onto Port of Entry; the route is paved and step-free. Security screening has a dedicated accessible lane held for wheelchair and ECV users. The Hogwarts Express station in Hogsmeade is reached by a step-free ramp and a wheelchair-accessible car runs on each train.

Vertical access
The park rolls over varied terrain (Skull Island and Jurassic Park have hills), but every route is paved. The Incredible Hulk Coaster, VelociCoaster, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey all require a transfer to the ride vehicle. The Team Member at the load zone will direct you to the accessible boarding route.

Accessible toilets
Every restroom block has wheelchair-accessible stalls. Companion (family) restrooms are signposted at Port of Entry near Guest Services, in Marvel Super Hero Island near Café 4, in Hogsmeade near Three Broomsticks, and in Jurassic Park near the Discovery Center.

Companion entry
Universal Orlando does not discount admission for disabled visitors or companions. The Attraction Assistance Pass (AAP) is the access program: enrol at any Guest Services location inside the park, or in advance via an IBCCES Individual Accessibility Card. The AAP works at the queue entrance of each ride and matches the standby wait time.

Getting there

Park your car in the Universal Orlando parking garage; accessible parking is on the ground level closest to the CityWalk moving walkways, with a valid disabled placard. Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida share an entrance plaza off CityWalk; the two park gates are roughly 200 metres apart.

Universal Orlando resort buses are ramp-equipped and stop at the central CityWalk transport hub. The Hogwarts Express in Hogsmeade runs to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida and the train cars accept wheelchair users in a designated accessible row (a park-to-park ticket is required for the train).

Inside the park

Enrol in the Attraction Assistance Pass at Guest Services just inside Port of Entry. Universal Orlando provides reasonable accommodations to guests whose disability prevents extended queue waits; the IBCCES Individual Accessibility Card is the recommended advance-registration path and Team Members use it to set the appropriate queue accommodation.

Wheelchair and ECV rentals are sold at the kiosk inside Port of Entry, beside Guest Services. Quantities are limited on busy days. The big-thrill rides (Incredible Hulk, VelociCoaster, Hagrid's Motorbike, Forbidden Journey) each require a transfer to the ride vehicle and use a separate accessible boarding route; the Team Member at the load zone will direct you.

Guest Services issues assistive-listening receivers and written show scripts for the live shows (Poseidon's Fury and the visiting seasonal shows). Service animals are welcome throughout most of the park; the high-speed coasters do not allow service animals on the ride. A service-animal kennel is provided near each affected attraction.

Tips for visiting

Hogsmeade is the busiest pocket of the park; arrive at park opening for Hagrid's Motorbike and Forbidden Journey before the queues build. The shops along the high street (Honeydukes, Zonko's, Ollivanders) are step-free with narrow aisles; ECVs can navigate them on quieter mornings but tight on weekend afternoons.

Seuss Landing is the gentlest area for sensory needs, with slower rides and brighter colouring. Skull Island: Reign of Kong has an intentionally dark-and-loud ride sequence; staff at the entrance will brief on the experience. Universal Orlando Resort hotels feature mobility-accessible rooms with grab bars, visual alarms and roll-in showers.
