How to book

For a yellow or green wheelchair taxi, call 646-599-9999 (24 hours, 7 days a week) and pick Curb, Arro, or Myle, or download one of those apps. NYC311 lists the same hotline as (646) 599-9999. You can also hail a taxi that shows the wheelchair symbol on the hood and side.

On a street hail, the meter sets the fare. The TLC standard meter starts at $3.00. On the Accessible Taxi Hotline, NYC311 says the meter starts when you are secured, then you pay the standard metered fare with cash or a card. There is no extra charge for extra passengers who fit in the vehicle.

If you book in an e-hail app, TLC says the company offers an upfront price and may ask for payment details. On a binding e-hail quote the meter stays off. For a private-hire WAV, open Uber and select WAV, or turn on Wheelchair access in Lyft and request Wheelchair. Private vans are booked on the operator phone or website below.

Accessible Taxi E-hail

The old MTM Accessible Dispatch contract ended on 28 February 2026. TLC now routes the same 646-599-9999 number to Accessible Taxi E-hail. You choose Arro, Curb, or Myle on the call, or you book in that company's app.

The taxis use a manual ramp that the driver lowers so you roll in and stay in the chair. Drivers must assist with boarding, securement, and exit. No booking email is published on the TLC pages checked today. Use https://www.nyc.gov/site/tlc/passengers/find-an-accessible-ride.page.

Curb

Curb is one of the TLC-licensed e-hail apps for wheelchair-accessible yellow and green taxis. Call (347) 428-6911 (listed as 24/7 live support) or use https://www.gocurb.com/new-york-tlc-wav. Agents set up an account, take pickup and drop-off, then show an upfront fare.

Curb says that upfront price includes relevant tolls or surcharges, instead of waiting for the meter. No booking email is published on that page.

Uber WAV and Lyft Wheelchair

TLC tells passengers to book an accessible ride through Uber or Lyft. In Uber, enter the destination, select WAV, then tap Confirm WAV. Uber says the WAV price is comparable to UberX. The rider page is https://www.uber.com/us/en/ride/uberwav/. Uber does not publish a tourist booking phone or email on that page.

Lyft lists New York City, NY among cities with Wheelchair rides (the product formerly called Access). Turn on Wheelchair access in Settings, then request Wheelchair. Lyft Help is https://help.lyft.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013081668-wav-rides. No tourist booking phone or email is published there.

NYC Wheelchair Transportation

NYC Wheelchair Transportation is a private-pay van firm. Vehicles have hydraulic lifts or ramps and securement so you stay in the chair. Call (212) 705-8773, email [email protected], or use https://nycwheelchairtransportation.com/.

The site says fares start around $40 for short trips, then vary by distance, time, and service. They quote upfront with no hidden fees. Same-day rides are often available. They run to JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark if you book ahead.

Ride A WAV

Ride A WAV books wheelchair-accessible vans in New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and Connecticut. Call 914-339-6005 or book at https://www.rideawav.com/accessible-rides-for-persons-with-disabilities (the site also prints www.rideawav.com).

Vehicles use secure tie-downs for wheelchairs and other mobility aids. Booking calls are not 24/7; use business hours or the contact form. No public booking email is printed. No published fare; they take the trip details and schedule, then confirm the ride.

Airport transfer

JFK tells passengers to request a wheelchair-accessible taxi through Accessible Dispatch or apps such as Curb or ARRO, and to call +1 (646)-599-9999. It says accessible taxis cost the same as regular ones and can be hailed on the street if they show a wheelchair symbol.

TLC's JFK to Manhattan taxi fare is $70, plus the listed surcharges, tolls, and tip. TLC also says the Port Authority does not currently allow taxis to be e-hailed at the airport, though you can be dropped off there. For a van to the terminal, pre-book NYC Wheelchair Transportation or Ride A WAV.

Access-A-Ride

MTA Access-A-Ride is shared-ride paratransit, not a same-day taxi. Visitors who already have paratransit eligibility at home can request visitor service for up to 21 days, but must contact the Eligibility Unit at least 2 weeks before arrival. For a hotel or airport trip this week, use the taxi and van numbers above.
