Disability discounts in Stuttgart

Reduced admission for disabled visitors and a free companion ticket at the major Stuttgart museums and the Fernsehturm.

The single most useful rule for a wheelchair visitor to Stuttgart's museums: bring a German disability pass marked for an accompanying person and your companion enters free. The Staatsgalerie, Kunstmuseum, Landesmuseum Württemberg, and the Fernsehturm all publish this policy. Disabled visitors themselves pay a reduced rate.

How the registered-companion rule works

Germany operates a disability-pass system that includes a mark for an accompanying person. When a disabled visitor's pass carries this mark, museums and transport operators across the country admit one companion free. Stuttgart's state and city museums follow the rule consistently.

To use the rule, present the pass at the ticket counter. The cashier checks for the mark and issues two tickets: a reduced one for the disabled visitor and a free one for the companion. Online systems sometimes do not surface this option, so for the first visit it is faster to buy at the door.

When the discount does not apply

Foreign disability cards are not consistently accepted in Germany. The European Disability Card is accepted at federal venues but not always at state-run sites. Bring a translated copy of your home-country documentation, and ask at the counter before queuing.

Free public squares (Schlossplatz, Schillerplatz, Schlossgarten) charge no admission, so the discount question does not arise. The Markthalle is a free shopping venue.
