Disability discounts in Frankfurt

Which tickets are reduced, where a companion enters free, and what proof to bring to the desk.

Frankfurt venues offer a reduced admission to visitors with a German disability pass (Schwerbehindertenausweis) showing a disability rating of 50 or above. Visitors from outside Germany substitute the European Disability Card or their home-country disability ID.

The companion mark on the pass (Merkzeichen B) entitles holders to bring one companion free at most venues and on the RMV transit network. Ask for the reduced rate at the desk; staff apply the standard price if you do not ask.

Städel, Zoo Frankfurt, and Senckenberg

The Städel Museum charges a reduced admission of 17 EUR against the 19 EUR standard adult price. Present the disability pass at the ticket desk. We could not confirm a free-companion policy at the Städel from its published sources; contact the museum in advance if you are travelling with a companion.

Zoo Frankfurt charges 6 EUR for visitors with a disability rating of 50 or above. A companion whose pass carries the companion mark enters free. At Senckenberg, qualifying disabled adults pay 6 EUR; disabled children with a qualifying disability rating enter free, and the required companion also enters free. At both venues the pass must be shown at the entrance without being asked.

RMV public transport

German residents with the orange-green disability pass and a valid free-travel token (Wertmarke) ride free on all RMV services: U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, and bus. A companion also travels free when the companion mark appears on the pass, with no second token required. Visitors from outside Germany who do not hold the German pass pay standard RMV fares.

What to bring

Bring the disability pass and photo ID to every venue. A recent doctor's letter on headed paper is a useful backup for venues less familiar with foreign cards. Pack documents in print; a paper letter works when a foreign QR code cannot be scanned at the desk.
