Quick answer

Two public lifts go up the tower at 4 metres per second to an open observation deck at 166 metres and a rotating restaurant another eight metres above. The street-level lobby is reached at grade from the Rhine promenade. There is no stair-free alternative if the lift is out of service, and we could not confirm an accessible toilet or a disability discount from official public sources; phone ahead if you need either.

Getting there

The Rheinturm stands at the south end of Düsseldorf's government quarter, on the Rhine bank just south of the MedienHafen. The closest Stadtbahn stop is Stadttor on the U71, U72, U73, and U83 lines, a level five-minute roll along the river promenade. From Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, U78 or U79 to Stadttor takes about ten minutes.

Buses 725 and 726 stop at Rheinturm itself, directly at the base of the tower. The walk from the MedienHafen along the river is level the full way, with curb-cuts at every cross-street.

Entrance and lift

The lobby entrance opens onto the Rhine-side plaza at grade. From the lobby, two public lifts run up the inside of the tower to the observation deck. Both lift cabs are sized for wheelchairs in practice, though we could not find the exact published cabin dimensions on the operator's pages. There is no stair-free alternative to the lifts; if one is in maintenance the other usually keeps running, but verify before you make a long detour to visit.

Observation deck and restaurant

The observation deck at 166 metres is open-walled and level once you exit the lift. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the full perimeter; the view covers the Altstadt to the north, the MedienHafen below, and the Rhine bend to the south. The QOMO rotating restaurant sits one lift stop above the deck. The restaurant floor rotates slowly while seating remains stationary; wheelchair tables can be requested when you book.

Discounts and what we could not confirm

We could not confirm an accessible toilet on the observation deck, a wheelchair-space allocation, or a disability-pass discount on the standard tower ticket from official public sources. The operator does run the tower on regular tourist-attraction terms, so the standard German reduced rate for disabled visitors and a free companion seat with the B mark on the pass are both plausible, but we have not seen them written down. Phone or email ahead if either matters to you.
