Quick answer

K20 is barrier-free across its main visit route. Wheelchairs lend free at the cloakroom. The single ticket is 16 € with a reduced rate of 14 € for disabled visitors at a 50 percent disability rating or higher, and the registered companion enters free when the pass carries the B mark on the back. The collection covers Klee, Picasso, Matisse, Mondrian, and contemporary art across lift-served floors.

Getting there

K20 sits on Grabbeplatz at the eastern edge of the Altstadt, three minutes from Heinrich-Heine-Allee Stadtbahn station along the level Mühlenstraße. From Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, Stadtbahn U70, U74, U75, U76, U77, or U78 to Heinrich-Heine-Allee runs about every two to five minutes and takes five minutes.

The Heinrich-Heine-Allee station has lifts between the street level and the Stadtbahn platforms. The walk from the lift exit to the K20 entrance is level and smooth-paved.

Entrance, lifts, and the gallery floors

K20 enters step-free from Grabbeplatz. Inside, lifts connect the entrance level to every gallery floor, and the operator describes the building as barrier-free in the main visit route. The Paul Klee collection (around 130 drawings and paintings), Picasso, Matisse, and Mondrian rooms, and the contemporary galleries are all on lift-served levels. Wheelchairs can be borrowed at the cloakroom at no charge; ask at the desk on the way in.

Tickets and discounts

The K20 single ticket is 16 € with a reduced rate of 14 €. The K20 + K21 combination ticket is 20 €; K21 at the Ständehaus on Ständehausstraße is a separate building but the same operator. Children and young people up to 17 enter free.

Disabled visitors pay the reduced 14 € rate on presentation of a German disability pass at a 50 percent rating or higher. The companion enters free when the pass carries the B mark on the back. The companion ticket is not always on the online cart for the disability rate; show the pass at the counter so the B mark can be checked.

Service and guide dogs are admitted with proper documentation. Companion seats for visually impaired visitors are free regardless of the B mark on the pass.

Opening hours

K20 opens Tuesday to Sunday and on public holidays from 11 to 18. The first Wednesday of each month it stays open until 22. The museum is closed on Mondays. Mid-afternoon midweek is usually the calmest window. The first Wednesday late opening is popular with locals and the building is denser in the evening.
