Disability discounts in Dresden

Where a German disability pass cuts the price in half, where the companion enters free, and what to bring to the counter.

The big discount in Dresden is half-price concert and opera tickets at the Semperoper and the Frauenkirche, plus a free seat for one companion. Bring a German disability pass with at least an 80 percent rating, and check the back for the "B" mark, which is what authorises the free companion ticket and free companion travel on the trams.

What to bring

Bring your German disability pass. The Semperoper and the Frauenkirche apply their concert discounts at a disability rating of 80 percent or higher. The free companion seat, and free companion travel on the trams, both depend on the "B" mark on the back of the pass. Show the pass at the ticket counter or to the tram inspector. Foreign disability cards are usually accepted with a passport.

How to claim each discount

For Semperoper performances, the wheelchair seats and the disability discount are booked through the visitor service rather than the standard online cart. Up to 11 wheelchair places are reserved in the auditorium, and lift access to those places is via the box-office foyer on the Elbe side.

For Frauenkirche concerts, present the disability pass at the ticket counter when you collect tickets. The half-price discount applies to both your ticket and the companion's. Entry to the church itself outside of concert and service times is already free for every visitor.

For the Frauenkirche dome ascent, the reduced ticket is 7 €. The narrow internal route and historic structure mean disabled visitors are admitted on prior request only, so phone or email ahead rather than queueing at the door.

On DVB trams and buses, no advance booking is needed. If the pass carries the B mark, the companion travels free on the same vehicle. The disabled visitor themselves pays the standard Dresden tariff unless they hold a separate free-travel token.
