Quick answer

Step-free entrances on both sides, a lift in the box-office foyer on the Elbe side, an accessible toilet on the ground floor, and up to 11 reserved wheelchair places. With a German disability pass at 80 percent you pay half-price; the companion ticket is free with the B mark. Book the wheelchair place through the visitor service rather than the online cart.

Getting there

The Semperoper faces the Theaterplatz next to the Zwinger and the Hofkirche. Tram lines 4, 8, and 9 call at Theaterplatz, and the stop is step-free; the platform sits level with the low-floor tram doors.

From Dresden Hauptbahnhof, take tram 11 toward Bühlau to Postplatz and switch to tram 4, 8, or 9 for one stop. The walk across Theaterplatz to the opera-house door is short and paved.

Entrances and the lift

Wheelchair-accessible entrances are on both sides of the building. The Zwinger-side door (left) drops you near the cloakroom and stalls level; the Elbe-side door (right) leads straight to the box-office foyer, which is where the lift is. The lift sits next to the cloakroom on the Elbe side. Take it to reach the upper levels for the higher tiers.

Wheelchair places and seating

Up to 11 wheelchair places are reserved in the auditorium. They sit at the same level as the stalls and have a clear sight line to the stage. Book through the visitor service rather than the online cart, since the wheelchair places are not surfaced in the standard ticketing flow. Availability for popular productions can go quickly, so plan ahead.

Discount and companion ticket

The Semperoper applies a half-price discount on the ticket with a German disability pass at 80 percent or higher. When the back of the pass carries the B mark, the companion ticket gets the same half-price discount. Bring the pass to the visitor service or the box office. Foreign disability documents are not automatically recognised by the discount system; the visitor service can advise on a case-by-case basis if you carry a clearly stamped national equivalent.

Accessible toilet

An accessible toilet is on the ground floor, to the right of the cloakroom area. It is open during performance hours; no key is needed. Plan for the queue around the interval.

Practical tips

Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before curtain. The wheelchair places fill before the standard stalls and the cloakroom queue runs slow in winter.

Programmes are sold inside the foyer; the stand sits at a height workable from a seated position.

Guided tours of the building are offered separately from the performance. Wheelchair access on a tour is not separately documented on the accessibility page; ask the visitor service when you book the tour rather than assuming the same route as performance entry.
