Quick answer
The lift at entrance A and the indoor ramp give you step-free access to the nave. An accessible toilet is on site. Twelve wheelchair places are set aside for concerts and services. Church entry is free; concert tickets are half-price with a German disability pass, and the companion seat is free when the pass carries the B mark. The dome ascent is not generally accessible to wheelchair users.
Getting there
The Frauenkirche sits on the Neumarkt square in Dresden's old town, a few minutes' roll from the Elbe terrace. The closest tram stop is Pirnaischer Platz, which the inner-city ring lines call at; Dresden's trams have all been low-floor since 2010 and most inner-city stops are step-free.
From Dresden Hauptbahnhof the simplest route is tram 3 or 7 to Pirnaischer Platz, then a short level walk through Münzgasse to the Neumarkt. The square itself is paved with cobbles, but the routes around it are smooth enough for most wheelchairs.
Entrance, lift, and the nave
Entrance A on the north side of the church carries the wheelchair sign. The lift inside connects directly to a short indoor ramp that drops you into the nave at the same level as the main floor. There are no steps between the lift and the seating area. Staff are usually present at A during opening hours and can direct you to the reserved wheelchair places.
Accessible toilet
An accessible toilet is on site in the visitor area. It is open to all visitors during opening hours; no key is required.
Concerts and services
Up to 12 wheelchair places are authorised for events in the main hall. Tickets for the wheelchair places, and for the accompanying seat, are booked through the visitor service. With a German disability pass at 80 percent or higher, the concert ticket is half-price; the companion seat carries the same discount when the pass shows the B mark on the back. Foreign disability cards are usually accepted with a passport.
Dome ascent
The dome ascent is not generally accessible to wheelchair users. The standard ticket is 12 € with a 7 € reduced rate, but the route uses narrow historic stairs and ramps that fall outside modern accessibility codes. Disabled visitors are admitted on advance request only, so phone or email the visitor service well before you travel rather than queueing at the door.
