Disability discounts in Lyon
Where it is free, where it is reduced, and how many companions get in with you.
Most Lyon museums admit disabled visitors free, with one or two companions also free. Confluences, macLYON, and Beaux-Arts admit one companion; Gadagne admits two. The basilica and cathedral are free for everyone. Bring a disability card or AAH or AEEH allocation letter; major venues accept the European Disability Card. The Parc de la Tête d'Or is free for all visitors.
Lyon's discount system is straightforward at the door. Walk up to the ticket desk, show a valid proof of disability, and you and your companion or companions get a free ticket. There is no city-wide pass to buy in advance and no online registration to do first. Each venue checks proof at the desk.
Proof that works at every major Lyon venue: a national disability card (yours or the European Disability Card), the French Carte Mobilité Inclusion mention Invalidité, or, for French residents, the AAH or AEEH allocation letter dated within the last twelve months. A passport doctor's letter is accepted at the smaller venues; the larger ones want one of the cards above.

How to claim a free ticket
Skip the online queue and go directly to the on-site ticket desk. Show your proof; the staff member issues a free ticket on the spot. Major venues print a timed-entry ticket so you can re-enter after lunch. If you need staff support beyond the standard step-free routes, call the venue's reservation desk a day or two ahead.
Companion policy varies by venue (do not assume the Paris model)
The number of companions admitted free varies. Musée des Confluences and Musée des Beaux-Arts admit one. macLYON admits the companions of the disabled visitor. Musées Gadagne admit two accompanying persons. The Basilique de Fourvière guided visit is reduced for any CMI card holder, but companions pay the standard rate.
What proof to bring
The strongest proof is a recognised disability card with a photo: the French Carte Mobilité Inclusion mention Invalidité or mention Priorité, the European Disability Card, or your home-country card (UK Blue Badge, Spanish Tarjeta de discapacidad, German Schwerbehindertenausweis, etc.). AAH and AEEH allocation letters dated within the last twelve months are accepted at all Ville de Lyon museums.
