CAPC musée d'art contemporain wheelchair accessibility

The museum sits on rue Ferrère in the Chartrons quarter, north of the historic centre. The closest tram stop is Chartrons on tram line B, a fully low-floor service with level boarding at every platform. From Saint-Jean station it is about 20 minutes by tram with one interchange, or roughly 12 minutes by accessible taxi.

On-street parking is free at any meter when you display a European parking card (CES) or a French CMI marked 'stationnement' (CMI-S). Disabled bays are signed along the rue Ferrère block and the parallel rue Notre-Dame.

The lift connects the ground floor and the second floor autonomously. You can use it without calling staff for those two levels, which cover the historic Entrepôt Lainé nave and a large slice of the permanent collection.

The first-floor mezzanines and the library use a separate lift that needs a staff member to operate. Phone +33 6 31 00 32 53 on arrival to ask for someone to come down and unlock the route. Phone before you arrive on a busy day to reduce the wait at the door.

Visits and admission are free for disabled visitors and their companions. Bring an original disability card to the reception desk: a French Carte Mobilité Inclusion, a Carte d'Invalidité, or an attestation for the AAH, AEEH or ASI benefits. The free admission covers the temporary exhibition in the main nave and the permanent collection upstairs. There is no need to pre-book.

The CAPC is housed in the Entrepôt Lainé, a 19th-century colonial warehouse whose double-height nave is now the main exhibition space. The ground-floor nave is flat and step-free once you are inside; large temporary installations sit on the central floor.

Upstairs on the second floor, the permanent collection runs around a balcony that overlooks the nave. The route is reachable by lift. The first-floor mezzanines are intermediate galleries that require the staff-assisted lift described above.

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00. The museum is closed on Mondays. Plan around the staff-assist phone call for the mezzanines: pick a quieter weekday morning if you want to see those galleries without waiting.

If you want both the permanent collection and the temporary nave show, do the nave first (you are already at ground level) and then take the lift up. The staff-assisted detour to the mezzanines is best saved for last so you can leave straight from the ground floor on your way out.
